The full name of the state of Guyana is the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. It is located on the coast of South America from the northeast side. From the north it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean. If the child was born in Guyana, then he receives citizenship by birth. And this does not depend on whether his parents are citizens of the country or not. That is, the right of the soil acts on the child, as in other countries. But there is an exception to this rule. This is the case when the baby is born to parents who are diplomatic personnel, but none of these parents is a citizen of the state.

A foreign citizen who marries a citizen of the state has the right to obtain Guyana citizenship in the prescribed manner of registration.
The country does not recognize dual citizenship. An exception is only such a case. A second citizenship can only be acquired by marrying a Guyanese or marrying a Guyanese. Also, the law allows you to voluntarily write a waiver of citizenship of the state to the nearest embassy of Guyana. If a citizen of a country does this voluntarily, then he will automatically lose the citizenship of the state.
